​Following a  Lloyd’s broking career in with Alexander Howden Swann,  Lambert Hammond and J H Minet Alan began his underwriting career with The Excess Insurance Company in 1980 (now Aviva)  where he held the position of LineUnderwriter for the Professional Indemnity account.

After 10 years he transferred to Lloyd’s Syndicate 1154 as Deputy Underwriter.

Alan Chaired the UK Service Company  of Syndiacte 1154 afterwards Syndicate 657 and was at the forefront of setting up the first Lloyd’s Service company in Australia (Resource Underwriting Pacific Pty.)

Alan has subsequently held senior positions in Ace European Group (now Chubb) as well as Towergate. Over the past  fifteen years Alan has specialised exclusively in the U.K. Professional Indemnity market.

Alan is respected in the market for his in-depth knowledge of the class, which now spans over 45 years in the London Market.
